Since 1995, Athlone and Châteaubriant have shared a special connection. What started as a visit in 1994 grew into a lasting partnership, bringing people together through cultural, educational, and community exchanges.
Every year, we work to strengthen these ties—helping schools run exchange programs, supporting students on work placements, and promoting Irish culture at Châteaubriant’s annual music festival. We also play a role in industry links, agricultural visits, and tourism promotion between our towns.
Our goal is simple: to bring people closer together. Whether through music, education, business, or sport, the Athlone-Châteaubriant Twinning Committee is here to create opportunities for connection.
